Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C514

Image
Poinsettias I am addicted to colouring flowers and at this time of year poinsettias always bring such a lovely splash of colour to my Christmas display. So for me this is my favourite stamp this year. I have lots but this years this is the one from Ellen Hutson that has been getting a lot of use. It is no longer available which is a shame. I coloured them both with copics and made a traditional card and a more modern version. Both are layered, the red one fussy cut and the other I used the matching dies. The dies are still available but the stamp is not. Had fun making these and hope you enjoyed your visit.

Freshly Made Sketches 410

Image
Going for a Ride Been a couple of months since I last posted so thought I would get back into a few challenges. This time of year always seen so busy and I just needed some crafty time to relax. I made a card for a friend using the sketch from this weeks Freshly Made Sketches 410 and used a set from SU called One Wild Ride for the sentiment. The motorbike is an old stamp from Carabelle Studio that I have had for years and was stamped on an old off cut piece of paper from my stash. Added some twine to finish.

The Flower Challenge # 35

Image
Poppies Thank You Card. I follow Therese Calvird from Lost in Paper  and when I saw this Challenge  on her blog I knew the flower I would use.  I was over the moon as I just love to colour and flowers are my all time favourites and the beautiful poppy is the top of the list. Being married to a career soldier and a Vietnam vet it has a very special place in my heart. Both of our fathers served in WW2 and my husbands Grandfather served in WW1. At 11th November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than 4 years of continuous warfare and it started a  tradition of 2 minutes silence on the 11th day of the 11th month at 11am the following year. This was later changed to 1 minute and the poppy is the symbol of that day that we call Remembrance Day and now commemorates all those who died or suffered for Australia's cause in all wars and armed conflicts. I made a thank you card and this is the result.  I coloured it with copics but I have lost the sl

The Secret of Staying Young This cute image called Nadia is by  M Medel Illustrations  and I had to look up eyes as I have never coloured them this big. Not as hard as I thought and like the way they turned out. I think the hardest part was deciding what colour to make them. Kept it simple to show her off and choose a saying I love by Lucille Ball. I have a folder full of fun and quirky sayings and sentiments that I go to often if I have trouble matching one for my cards. The image was coloured with copics, added to a piece of leftover PP then to some black card that was adhered to a yellow card base. Just had to add a few sparkles to match her dress as a every girl needs some bling. Copics: Hair: YR000,00,14,18. Skin: E50,51,53,R21. Eyebrows: E15,19. Eyes: YG11,63,W7,9 and White Gel Pen. Lips: E07 Dress: Y06,08, and black acrylic paint pen for the dots. Shadow: C000,1,3,5.

The Outlawz Monday Greeting Challenge

Image
Thanks. The greeting this fortnight for the Monday challenge is thanks and I had the perfect image from Eureka Stamps for it as it came with this cute sentiment. Have had it for some time and it has been well used. Both my daughters have cats and it fits many different cards. Was a quick card to make. I printed the image and greeting unto a square card base, coloured the cat with copics then stamped the  thanks from a set from Create a Smile. This was then adhered to a piece of green card then to the card base. Copics:  Cat: YR14,18,21,24,W9. Box: BV0000,01,11,17. Ribbon: YG17,23,25. Paper: W0,1,3. Shadow: G0000,000. Ground: E40,42,44,74.

Colour Throwdown CTD548

Best Wishes This card has to be right out of my comfort zone but I love it. The colours are not ones I would  normally choose but it was fun to try different combos and this group really worked. Just can't get enough of my Distress Oxides and the way they blend. I seem to be using them on most cards in one way or another. The dies used here are a Sizzix set by Tim Holtz called Funky Floral that I I have never used but will be in the future. I just matched the background colours to scraps of card stock and die cut lots of flowers and leaves. Added two strips of patterned paper to the background and then arranged the flowers and leaves till I was happy, glued them down then stamped a small sentiment. Will have to drag my dies out more often.

You're Fin-tastic A friend of my daughters does a lot of voluntary work for her kids school and I have been donating cards for them to sell at their cake stalls etc. They have one coming up for Fathers day this September and so have started making some cards for it. Bought this set by J ulie Ebersole for Ellen Hutson ages ago and finally inked it up. Used Distress Oxides for the sky, water (old wave stencil used) and the whale.  The sentiment and small fish are from the same set and the letters for the dad from a really old cuttlebug alphabet set. Added a piece of twine and a nice easy Fathers Day card done. I am entering this in the sketch Challenge on Crazy4challenges This card sat on my desk for a few days and the more I looked at it the less I was happy with it. It just didn't seem finished so I added some more bits and pieces and I think I like this version better. The colour is slightly different but that was just the light when I took this picture. Darkroom Door June Challenge

Image
Poppies After seeing Nicolie Tuan's card for the DRD June challenge decided to use up one of the distress oxide backgrounds I made the other day and enter a card. Just love these inks and Rachel's stamps are my all time favourites. Picked the Poppies set  and water coloured the stamped images. Masked the large stamp to create my flower arrangement and after painting added a very light wash of grey around the flowers to make them pop. The sentiment is from the same set and used a yellow embossing powder on back card stock and like the way it matches the background. Can't remember the oxides I used but added some splatters and love the finished card.

Dolphins Have had trouble getting back into the swing of things since my break in Bali and not a lot of blog posts plus just can't seem to get motivated. Did get the email about the latest challenge from Crazy4Challenges and have been wanting to try these images out so this is what I made. Not alot of sand but it fits the criteria and love the way it turned out. The images are from Make it Crafty and as yet don't know what sentiment I want to add.. Used copics to colour the scene but I did not keep a record which is unusual but sand and coral can be what ever you want..

If Nothing Ever Changed. I think this must be a record for me to get my card up so early. As soon as I saw the topic I knew what image I wanted to use and it was an easy card to make and so quick. I printed two images from a background of butterflies from Eureka Stamps . I coloured the large three butterflies on one sheet with copics then fussy cut them out and these were mounted unto the second background image. All that was left was to add the sentiment from Darkroom Door , white embossed on black card, and then add it to a card base. Could not find the colour card I wanted so used one of the copic colours from one of the butterflies down the side.  Copics: Light Butterfly: BG0000,02,03,09,23,E27. Medium Butterfly: B000,01,12,E27. Dark Butterfly: B14,16,18,E27.

Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge

Image
It's not the Destination It's... the Journey. Needed a card for a friend of my Hubby's and this is perfect for this fortnights Twisted Thursday challenge at the Outlawz. I make lots of male cards so have done two variations with this image from Justinkedlined called Born to be Free. Tried to link it but I had no luck. The first card I used watercolour on the bike image then fussy cut it out. Worked out where I wanted the bike and printed the sentiment unto the pattered paper that I then adhered it to a red card base. Taped the bike to the card front and a quick and easy card that didn't take long to complete. The second image is still waiting to be added to a card so will try and do it tomorrow.

No Age Limit Back from my lovely holiday in Bali and finding it hard to get back into the swing of things. The weather is freezing here and I'm missing the lovely sunshine. Swimming one day and the next all rugged up. I have done my card for this month but found it hard to get motivated. This is such a cute image and as usual it was coloured with copics then cut out with a die set that a friend gave me. Used a larger die from the same set and cut set a scrap of coloured card to frame it. Adhered it to a spotted card base and added a computer generated sentiment and I like the result. Now just need to do some more crafting. Copics:  Skin: E00,02,11,134,R02. Clothes: Suit N3,5,7,100, Shirt C00.1.3, Tie B000,01, Cummerbund: R29,32,59. Shoes: C3,5,7,9. Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C483

Image
Happiest of Birthdays Heading of to Bali in a few days so have been trying to get a few craft projects done. When I saw the criteria for this weeks challenge at C4C483 I had this off-cut of paper sitting on my desk from another card and this is the result. I am a hoarder and have been trying to use the bits and pieces I save. The stamp is from a SU set called Bella and Friends and I coloured it with copics and then fussy cut the two images out. This was then adhered with dimensionals to the strips I had cut and placed on a white card base. The sentiment, from a set called More Essential Sentiments by MFT, was white heat embossed on black card and adhered over the images.  Copics: Dog: E11,15,19.N7. Bird: B24,26,R24,27,89YR07. Balloon: YR07,18,68, White Gel pen & Bow R24.

Birthday Party Pandas Having a break must be good for me as I seem to have lots of ideas for cards drifting through my brain. When I saw the colours for this challenge I knew what I wanted to try and it turned out pretty much like I imagined.  Love these pandas from SU and they are fun to colour with most mediums.    Used copics to colour them and die cut some small clouds from Memory box to give the illusion they were floating. The sentiment was one I cut out ages ago and never used  It was originally joined but was to big so I did some fussy cutting and it fits okay now. Added dimensional magic to the pandas eyes and the balloons then onto a pink card base. Copics: Pandas: C00,N0,1. Hat: RV23,25. Balloons: RV000,11,21.43. Shadow: E0000.

Your Older Than Me This glorious image is from Oddball Art and she was so much fun to colour. I have a friend that is just a few months older and we are always joking about our ages and knew I had to make her birthday card with it. Kept it clean and simple so the image was the showpiece. As usual I coloured her with copics and I computer generated the saying. Dug out an old SU heart border and die cut some small hearts for some interest and I love it. It is not always what I have in my head turns out the same way on my card. Copics: Skin: E00,01,02,E11,R20. Eyes: C3,B01. Hair: E0000,13,15,19. Hair clip: R35,37,89. Dress: BG11,13,49. Sneakers: N0,1,3,5,7,R35. Socks: C00,1,3. Hearts: R35,37. Shadow: W0. Ground: E70,71,74.

Happy Birthday Managed to get some time to craft and decided to enter this weeks Color throwdown.  I stamped this image awhile ago and thought it would be great to use my zigs marker for a change. Not the colours I would usually choose but like the way it turned out. The paper is from and old Echo park 6 x 6 pad called Times and Seasons and sentiment from a Darkroom stamp set  that I embossed and cut out. It has a great selection of birthday sentiments in different fonts. Added some twine and sequins for some extra interest.

You can never have enough. Had fun playing with the free image this month and this is the result. The freebie is from DT and administrator Sandra VanBlaricum and is called eggs. I printed the image twice, coloured them with copics then cut them out.  Printed another image from Beccys Place called Easter Bunny, coloured it also with copics then added the eggs to make my little scene. Cut some grass with a die from My favourite things, added the sentiment, adhered it to a blue card Mat then unto a white card base. The photo looks blue as it was taken late but in real life it is white.  Copics Used: Easter Rabbit: Bunny: E53,55,57,C9. Jacket & Pants: BG05,09,53, Cuffs & Hanky C00,1. Outlawz Monday Greetings Challenge

Image
Gone to the Beach I coloured this bathing beauty last week and didn't use her but she is perfect for this challenge. The background paper with the beach huts suits her so well and the sentiment was stamped and cut then adhered with foam tape. Used copics to colour her up and all I had to do was fussy cut her out. Tore some of my hubbies sand paper for the sand and then added my image with foam tape. A nice and quick card.

Outlawz Colour Challenge with add a flourish Twist

Image
Tropical Flowers This  card is something different for me as I used some free dies from a magazine freebie and only stamped my sentiment. No colouring and everything is from my stash that I cut out but never used, including the embossed background. The flowers were cut in all different colours and I found enough to match the challenge colour. Still have so many left so more cards will be eventually be done. The embossed background looks like a flourish but also found one in my stash so I guess that covers the twist. I did sponge some green onto the leaves as they needed some definition and added glossy accents to the flower centres.

Outlawz Monthly Progressive Challenge

You Sassy Lass The image this month is Ava from Di's Digis and she was a joy to colour. Used copics and then adhered her to two spellbinders circles then onto a piece of PP from a pad called Travel Light by We are Memory Keepers. Die cut the matching hello die to the stamp set from Simon Says Stamps called  Hello You , stamped the hello stamp from the set with Versamark ink and white heat embossed it.  The sentiment, from the same set, was heat embossed on a strip of black and then both glued to the card front that was then adhered to a black card base with a few black gems finished it off. I usually keep a record of the copics but couldn't find them so sorry about that. I really had fun with this card and hope you like it to.

Outlawz Colour Challenge

Image
You're Stuck With Me Love the colours for this challenge but wasn't to sure about the twist till I remembered a set from Darkroom Door called Cacti . Decided to use my Distress oxides for the background and the tall cactus in the background. For the foreground plants I used two green shades of versafine  and stamped of before I did the ones that I wanted in the background. I used some black distress to make the plants stand out as they were fading into the background. Stamped the sentiment from the same set and adhered it to a grey card base. Also added some white gel pen to the images. Inks Used: Distress Oxides : Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage,Forest Moss, Iced Spruce and Stormy Sky. Versafine : Onyx Black, Spanish Moss and Olympia Green.

For Your Special Day This adorable image is from Sheepski Designs  and is the freebie for the Outlawz Monthly Progressive Challenge. It did start out as a valentines day card but ended up as a birthday card for a dear friend. Kept it fairly simple with copic colouring, then cut it out with a heart die. Decided to draw a large heart then hand cut it out for the card base. Added some stitching, a few sequins and a sentiment from the Just Because stamp set from Create a Smile.  Copics: Bear: YR21,24,30,E23,29. Love: RV99,R08,59. Hearts: R27,46,Black0.1 Copic Multi liner. Shadow: BG0000,000. Ground: W00,1,3. I am entering this in the  Outlawz Monthly Progressive Challenge Crazy4Challenges_C4C468 Sheepski Designs Monthly Challenge

Adventure

Image
Motor Bike Adventure It has been so hot this Summer that we haven't done as much riding as we normally do. When the temp has been in the 40 degree Celsius range for days it is just too uncomfortable and I don't like the heat at all. Give me the cold weather any time. This was an easy card to make as there is no colouring, just layers. Lots of fussy cutting and I love that came together so well. The sentiments are from Dark Room Door word strips but are no longer available and the bike was cut from an old piece of wrapping paper that I couldn't throw out. Have a few bikes left and they make great male cards. The rest of the layers were all fussy cut from bits and pieces left from a kit I picked up a few years ago at a craft fair.   I find it hard to throw anything away and usually find a way to use them eventually. Entering this in the Outlawz twisted Thursday Challenge

Reflections

Image
Reflection at Sunset. This is one of my all time favourite stamps from Impression Obsession called Trees and Lake and it is just great for ink blending, especially with distress oxides. I stamp the image in my Misti and leave it there so I can re-stamp it when I have done the colour blending. This way I can see where I want to put the colour and stamping the image later makes sure you have a sharp image. Used 5 colours of ink, black soot, ground espresso, vintage photo, spiced marmalade and fossilized amber and the  image was stamped with versafine onyx black. Used my heat gun to dry the ink after blending, re-stamped the image and adhered it to a black card base. I am entering this card in the Outlawz Tuesday colour challenge.

Happy New Year. Nearly forgot to add my card for the challenge. Did this card a few days ago and it was the perfect for the colours this week. The stamps used Sydney Vol 2 , Alphabet Medle y and Celebration are from Darkroom Door and love that I didn't have to spent lots of time colouring the images in as I just used stamp pads for the colours. Nice and quick card that will go in the box for next New Years Eve.

Gina K Designs Monthly Mix Challenge

Image
Live in the Sunshine, Swim in the Sea Gina K Designs has a new website and it's lovely. While checking it out came across the monthly challenge and here is my take on it. Kept it simple with the background done in distress oxides and used a baby wipe over a wave stencil to give it some dimension. The sentiments, from By the Sea set was heat embossed with white embossing powder, added some twine, an anchor, bow and some clear dots. Adhered it to some card mats then onto a white card base and all done.

The Outlawz Sunday Songs & Rhymes Challenge

Image
Happy New Year I love that I made a card I like and did not colour any piece of it. The stamps are from Darkroom Door sets Sydney Vol 2 , Alphabet Medley and Celebration . Used up old patterned papers and gave them a grunge look. One to put away for next year.

Outlawz Saturday Paper Ala Mode Challenge

Congratulations This New Year was the 63rd Wedding Anniversary for a dear friend and old workmate of my Hubby's. His gorgeous wife has dementia and he is her full time carer and I take my hat of to him as they are both in their late eighties.. Made this card and hope he knows how much we admire and respect him for the loving husband he is. Coloured the Darkroom Door set  with copics, added some glossy accents to the glasses and some sequins. The sentiment is from the same set. Copics:  Glasses: YR000,E0000. Bottle: E0000,C00,YR000,00. Ground: C00,1.

The Outlawz Festive Friday Challenge

Image
Christmas Wishes I think I must have a thing for cats lately. Cleaning up after finishing a card yesterday and found this image from a digi freebie I had printed off for a Christmas card I had not got around to colouring. Well thought it would be great for the Outlawz Friday challenge and the start of next years Christmas  cards. Kept it really simple with some copic colouring, a sentiment from a new Darkroom Door set  ( love the large greetings) then adhered it to a ready made card base.  Copics:  Cat: N1,3,5,7,G21. Box: R24,29,89. Holly YG63,67. Bow R19,38,YR15,16,98. Shadow: G0000. Ground: W000.1.3.

Shame it's too Big I thought I would try this year to do more challenges and get them done early as I am always running  late. This is such a cute image and the sentiment popped into my head before I even thought about the card. I printed the image three times, one on some pattered paper to do some paper piecing, one to colour and the last for a mask. Once I had the mask in place used distress oxides for the background and spritzed with water. Removed the mask and coloured the cat with alcohol markers then added the fussy cut pattered paper image and adhered it in place. Printed the sentiment and stamped happy birthday as I know my cat lover friend with appreciate it. Usually I use my copics but I seem to be collecting odd markers so I used them and will list them here. Stamping up: Light pumpkin pie, dark pumpkin pie & dark pink pirouette. Kaszazz: Chocolate and one Copic: R24.  Don't know if this would work all the time but I'm happy with the result

Color Throwdown Challenge

Image
Happy Birthday Found this challenge (Color Throwdown Challenge) when browsing and for this week the colours are as per the picture below and decided to give it a try.  I received this cute free small stamp set from Altenew with my last order called blooming blossoms but not sure if it's for sale as I couldn't find it on their site. Thought it would make a cute card and stamped the flowers in different shades of yellow. As they are solid stamps I give them some dimension with my prisma colour pencils. I did the same for the leaves. Heat embossed the sentiment from a Simon says Stamp set called It's Your Birthday in white, added a piece if ribbon, and adhered the image to some coloured card mats and onto a white card base. Nice and quick card for me as I managed to finish in a couple of hours.
