Actsa Artist Trading Card Monthly Swap

Image
Cheers This is a sad post for me this month as this will be the last ATC for the monthly swap at Actsa (Act Stamp Association). The numbers have been dropping so it was decided to add it to the show and Tell group but there will be no swapping. For me the fun was getting a 1-4-1 swap and seeing the take others had on the topic each month. I guess I will have to find another swap. This ATC came together fast and gave me a chance to use an old favourite from Stamping Bella called Addy Tude loves her 'tins but it's no longer available.  I coloured the image & background with copics and stamped the sentiment from the set on a separate piece of card, cut them out and used mounting tape to adhere them for dimension. Added glossy accents to the spectacles Copics:  Skin: E50,51,55. Dress & Hat: RV06,09,R83. Spectacles: W1. Stole: C1. Flowers: B23,YR07. Martinis glasses:R000. Background: B0000. Ground: E17,31,57. Stool: W3.

Konnichiwa This month the topic for the monthly swap was foreign languages so it could be art, foreign scripts, culture etc. I decided to use this lovely digi from Little Blue Button Stamps  and coloured her with copics to match the background I printed. It was a freebie from a magazine and has some lovely themes. I printed it twice so I could cut out extra cherry blossoms for dimension. The sentiment and the image were also adhered using mounting tape. Copics: Skin: E0000,000,R20,01. Hair: W5,7,9. Kimono: R81,85,RV11,91,93. Parasol: RV000,R00,01. Flowers/Leaves: RV000,32,YG05,09.

Actsa Monthly ATC 1-4-1 Swap

The Journey Have been so busy with my daughters move back to Canberra that I just haven't had time to post on the blog. I did get some cards and my ATC done. Here is the ATC. Last month the topic for the monthly ATC was Geography so the theme was wide open. Maps and compasses, travel theme, landscapes images so there was plenty to choose from. I choose a Darkroom door world map background stamp  and used the Australian portion for the background that I coloured using distress inks. Stamped the sentiment from the Tim Holtz discontinued Journey set and the postal stamp (unknown) directly onto the background. Stamped the aeroplane (Urban Crafter) and suitcases (Tiddly inks) on scrap card, coloured with Zig markers and fussy cut them out and mounted them with dimensional tape.     The finished ATC

Hello World  Space ATC  It's that time again and I am early with this months Atc. Normally I am finishing it off on Saturday morning for the afternoon meeting. The topic this month was space and I enjoyed making the galaxy background with distress and oxide inks. Have seen so many on the web etc, but never got around to trying one. The little spaceman and the earth are from Gerda Steiner designs blast off and alien invasion  stamps sets, coloured with copics and cut out. The sentiment was computer generated. adhered using mounting tape as was the spaceman. The earth I just used flat tape to adhere so it looks like it is in the background.    Copics: Skin: E000,01,R20. Hair: E53,55,57. Spacesuit: C0,1,3,5,7,BG02,R35. Earth; BG01,05,G14,17.

Artist Trading Card for swap at Monthly ACT stamp Association

Sew Cute I cant believe it's nearly the end of month; this year is just flying bye way too fast for me. That means it's time for my stamp group meeting and I have left my ATC to the last minute as usual.  This month the topic for the ATC swap is texiles so any thing like sewing, ribbons lace dressmaking. etc. I dug out an old MFT stamp set called Sew Niffty and one from Technique Tuesday called Borderline Notions. First I stamped the dressmakers dummy from MFT sew niffty on a piece of card 4 x 3 ins then two more times, one on PP and the other on scrap paper for a mask. I coloured the card with four new Tim Holtz Oxide distress inks from Ranger. Placed the mask and stamped the sewing notions from Technique Tuesday till I was happy with it. Cut just the top from PP, glued it down, then made a pleated skirt from a scrap of light purple PP. I wrapped some ribbon around the top and adhered it to the dressmakers dummy. I used copics to give it some shading and added Ranger bl...

One Wild Ride. It's our monthly stamp group meeting and the ATC challenge is wood/ metal  etc. As I had just finished a card for the crazy4challenges this week using a motorbike I decided to use the same theme for my ATC. A Harley is a large mass of metal and I placed it on a wooden backdrop so really covered all the bases. The stamp, sentiment and tyre tread are from SU's one wild ride set and I stamped them onto the Kaiser wood patterned background. I lightly stamped a Kaiser wood grain stamp over the PP for some more texture. Added two metal brads to the sentiment and sponged some black ink around it and the image then adhered it to the ATC with dimensional tape.

The Swinging 60's This month the theme is all about the 60's and this girl fits perfectly. Love the flower patterned dress and those long white boots. I can relate so well to that time and I had a pair of boots just like these. The image is melody from Make it Crafty and after colouring her with copics, fussy cut her out and  adhered her to the base with mounting tape. Had fun with the base and love the way it turned out. First I used scrunched up cling wrap dipped in Jo Sonja pale gold acrylic paint and daubed over a white card 21/2 x 31/2 leaving lots of white space. Next just picked some bright distress inks and blended them over the card. Hard to see the gold shining through but it looks great. Decided it needed some stencils but used a translucent paste instead of white and love the subtle finish. The title was computer generated and the black makes it pop against the bright colours. Copics: Skin & eyes: E00,01,13,R20,B12. Hair: E40,41,42,44. Dress ...

Dinosaurs This ATC is for our monthly swap so had to have it done.  This month the theme was Origins of life - prehistoric -dinosaurs, cavemen, tribal Africa. Plenty to choose from and I finally went with dinosaurs. This triceratops, palm tree and volcano is from Gina K  designs called Dino-mite that I have had for ages and is such a versatile and cute set with great  sentiments.  It is such a shame it is no longer available. I stamped the dinosaur twice, once on watercolour paper then on a scrap piece to use for a mask. I fussy cut the one on the scrap paper, placed it over the image on the watercolour paper, then stamped the volcano and palm tree. I used my distress inks to colour the scene. This is the second project on my to do list so just one more and I can think about getting ready for my Bali trip.

Art Deco  I cant believe it is the end of another month and time for our monthly stamp meeting. This year just seems to be flying away so fast. The theme for this month was Art Deco and I usually only do the ATC (Artist trading card) swap but since I have a few stamps for this period and some time I entered the card challenge as well. They were both coloured with copics and on the ATC I used only stamps from Docrafts Tall Urban Stamp Art Deco - Flapper and then mounted it on matching card.  ATC Copics:  Skin: E000,01,02,R20. Hair: E40,41. Dress: BG11,13,14,49,N3,7. Gloves: BG75. Background: G0000,000,11,13. Feather & Sttole: N1,3,5, Flower: YR00,12. Corner & Panel: G000,11,YR00,12. The stamp for the card was a freebie from Claire Coxon courtesy of image source. The background PP is left over from an old Decoupage set and the border die from Martha Stewart. The sentiment is computer generated, printed on contrasting CS and then all th...

Actsa April Artist Trading Card

Nefertiti Ancient Civilizations This month at Actsa we had plenty of choices for the April ATC. Roman, Creek, Egyptian, Mayan, Inca, Aztec or any other ancient civilization. The choice for me I thought was easy as I had two Egyptian rubber stamps till I realized I didn't know the name of one and no idea the maker as it is not marked. Thank goodness for Google search. Nefertiti was the wife of the Pharaoh Amenhotep 1V and mother-in-law of  King Tutankhamon. Found some great pictures so was able to colour the image in similar colours. I cased the background from a post on  Andrea's Happy Place and it is so much like hers I hope she doesn't mind. I saw it on the April challenge over on Make it Crafty  and knew it was perfect and had to give it a try. I scanned the coloured background after it was done, softened it with photoshop and added the title with papyrus font. It just all fell into place for once. The image can be found here   on Make it Crafty a...

Catching up on my ATC's for this year.

Image
My January and February ATC's Haven't made it to a meeting this year but did manage to get my ATC's done for the first two months. Love making these cute little 2/12 by 3/12 cards and receiving one in return. The first theme was for pre 1788 Australia and I choose to colour a flowering gum image from  Make it crafty . I choose copics to colour the image, distressed the edges with Walnut Stain Distress ink and then mounted the image on dark brown card stock. Didn't add a title so that the flower was the focal point.  Copics:  Flowers: R05,24,37. Gumnuts: Y28,W5,7. Leaves: YG93,94,99. Background: B12,14. The February's ATC theme was Medieval- People or Architecture, castles, knights. Now you just had to have a dragon featured there somewhere and this is the result. The castle picture I found on Google, changed the colour to give it a softer look and blended Old Photo and Gathered Twigs Distress inks over it . The dragon image is an old image fr...

Halloween Witch The topic for this months ATC Swap at the ACT Stamp Artist meeting is bats, witches, and Halloween. Had fun colouring this witch with my copics and love the way it turned out. She really stands out against the distress ink background. Short post as I still have some cards to finish tonight as I am busy tomorrow and need to get some sleep for an early start. Copics: Skin: E000,02,11,R20,R27. Hair: YR14,E08,09. Clothes: BV000,02,02,B17,29,C0,1,3,G82,YG67. Hat: G82,YG67. Armband: R08,BV08. Pumpkin: Y13,YR02,68,YG97,99. Broom: E13,74,79,W10.

Superman

Image
Stay Calm Call Superman ATC It's the last Saturday of the month and  I'm of to my stamp group for the afternoon. I used to take lots of craft to do or finish but I finally stopped as it is more of a social event for me. I catch up with friends, buy things I could proberly do without and enjoy the demo's that they have each month. Even the techniques you have tried before but just don't use anymore have you thinking I should do that more often. The one thing I do love is the monthly ATC. Coming from some-one that used to just do scrapbook pages to a card 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 was quite difficult but I love these little mini masterpieces. This months theme is superman, space, rockets etc. and this is my finished piece. The image is from Tiddly Inks  and the die is from Taylored Expressions . The background is brayered using a kaleidacolor ink pad called Blue Breeze. White gel pen used for the stars and the sentiment is computer generated. The image is coloured with copics,...
