Outlawz Colour Challenge

Image
You're Stuck With Me Love the colours for this challenge but wasn't to sure about the twist till I remembered a set from Darkroom Door called Cacti . Decided to use my Distress oxides for the background and the tall cactus in the background. For the foreground plants I used two green shades of versafine  and stamped of before I did the ones that I wanted in the background. I used some black distress to make the plants stand out as they were fading into the background. Stamped the sentiment from the same set and adhered it to a grey card base. Also added some white gel pen to the images. Inks Used: Distress Oxides : Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage,Forest Moss, Iced Spruce and Stormy Sky. Versafine : Onyx Black, Spanish Moss and Olympia Green.

The Outlawz Progressive Freebie Monthly Challenge

The Conductor I can't believe that it has been a month since my last post. Time just seems to fly past, or maybe I have just been to busy with other things. I have made plenty of cards and I will put some of my favourites up tomorrow. This card is for the last freebie challenge for 2018 and as usual it's a last day scramble to do it. I love the result even if it was rushed. The image is coloured with copics and I used some distress inks to create a vintage grunge look. After printing the image I drew a scroll around it and stamped some music randomly here and there. I distressed the scroll, used mounting tape to adhere it to some music I printed then adhered it to a black card mount and onto my card base. The sentiment  is from a  Darkroom door set called Melody and I attached it with some twine. The distress inks used, old paper and vintage photo, were added to the edge of the scroll and patterned paper to add some dimension. Copics: The conductor: Skin: E0000...

The Outlawz Progressive Monthly Challenge

Sending Hugs It's taking me a while to get back into my craft room after Christmas and I am late as usual with this months challenges. Today I decided to do a distress ink background and surprise I actually like it so it spurned me on to colour up the lovely image for the Outlawz monthly challenge. The image is from Di's Digis and it was fun to colour. I stamped a tree from the  Darkroom door   set Gum trees using a dauber to ponce the ink onto the stamp then a fine brush to paint the trunk to finish the background. Fussy cut the image and adhered it to the card after stamping the sentiment from a Create a Smile set - Just Because then added some glossy accents to the cupcake and ribbon. I did use my prisma pencils for some shading as the bunny looked like it was floating. Copics:  Bunny: W00,1,3,5,7,R01. Clothes: G12,14,16,BG000,B14. Ribbon: R43,59. Cupcake: E23,25,27,R000,21,22. Trolley: B93,97,99,E23,27.

Faeryink Halloween ATC Swap.

Image
Halloween Faeryink are having a Halloween ATC swap and I decided to have a play. I like ATCs and it makes me think out of the box and is a change from card making. My monthly stamp group does one and have done a few others. This one was easy as I only had to do three and they could all be different. I downloaded a few great images from Faeryink and used the Raven Nevermore and Witchball on two of them and a witch image from DeliciousDoodles . Sorry this post is so long but I like to list the colours I use and it is usually only for one project. On the raven ATC I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours to colour all the images. The house and bats are from SU 's Halloween Scares stamp set and the gravestones from a Make it Crafty  digi image. I fussy cut the raven and two of the gravestones to fit and used a circle dye for the moon. Added some Wink of Stella clear to the moon for some sparkle and glossy accents on the house windows. Watercolours: Windows 33,40. Sta...

Actsa Monthly ATC 1-4-1 Swap

Image
The Journey Have been so busy with my daughters move back to Canberra that I just haven't had time to post on the blog. I did get some cards and my ATC done. Here is the ATC. Last month the topic for the monthly ATC was Geography so the theme was wide open. Maps and compasses, travel theme, landscapes images so there was plenty to choose from. I choose a Darkroom door world map background stamp  and used the Australian portion for the background that I coloured using distress inks. Stamped the sentiment from the Tim Holtz discontinued Journey set and the postal stamp (unknown) directly onto the background. Stamped the aeroplane (Urban Crafter) and suitcases (Tiddly inks) on scrap card, coloured with Zig markers and fussy cut them out and mounted them with dimensional tape.     The finished ATC

Playing with Distress Oxide Inks

Image
Oxide Backgrounds Take a Walk on the Wild side. Have been playing around with the new Oxide inks from Tim Holtz and I thought I should make some cards with some of the backgrounds I made. I am really happy with the way they blend and you can keep on adding more and more colour and they don't turn to mud. Fantastic. On the first card the background was just blended on, sprayed some water and then stamped the cheetah from Darkroom Door Wild Africa Vol 2 set . The sentiment is from the Wild Africa Vol 1 set. This next background was done by pressing different coloured ink pads onto my non stick mat, adding water with a spray bottle and pushing the card into it and moving it slightly. Dried with my heat gun, added different colours to the mat, sprayed with water and smooshed again. You can do it again and again until you are happy with it. Flicked some water for a some for more texture. The elephant is from the Wild Africa Vol 3 set. Added some dots to the ground from an ...

Di's Digi Designs Challenge

Image
Happy Birthday My second post today and thought I would enter this card as well into Di's Digi Design challenge as it does have two dies on it. I have been playing with watercolouring the last couple of weeks and have never tried to colour a no line image so decided it was about time. I used this daffodil dance stamp from Penny Black and stamped it with Antique Linen. Next I just picked some distress inks, smudged them onto a piece of acetate, sprayed them with clean water and started painting. Used a No. 2 and 6 round brush for most of it and a really fine No. 0 for some highlights. Think I will have to try this again. The square die is by Docraft from their ornate frame nesting die set and the tag is called Maviensis from the Hearts Ease Collection by Couture Creations. Added some bakers twine, happy birthday from Darkroom Doors birthday set and used some PP from Basicgrey's Picadilly 6 x 6 collection. I normally list my colour choices but cleaned up and forgot t...

Less is More Challenge 314

The Tree of Life Some-one ask me what is your style the other day and I really had no idea. I tend to make cards of different styles for specific people or a request from some-one. Lately they have been more CAS and I am enjoying the results.  I still struggle a bit doing these cards but the challenges are helping . My first card uses a stamp from Darkroom Door called Trees and the sentiment is from the same set. Used distress inks in blue, green and yellow and stamped the tree over it when it was dry. Used the heat gun as I like the way it moves the colour around and it gives it some nice patterns. Mounted it on a blue card base and one down. The second card is similar but I used green , yellow and orange. The stamp is another Darkroom Door set called Wildflowers Vol 1 . They have some lovely sets that are great for this type of card. I adhered the card front to a green piece of cardstock then to a white card base. The cards do look white in real life. I am e...

The Outlawz Tuesday Colour Challenge

Image
Memories When I saw the colours for the Tuesday colour challenge this image just popped into my head. Haven't entered it for awhile but had to use the Old Truck from Darkroom Door and it is an old favourite, especially for male cards. The image was stamped on yellow paper then I used my distress inks to colour it up and then prisma pencils for some definition. The same paper was used for the backing and I tore the edge for some contrast, added some twine before adhering it to a black card base. The sentiment is from a kaiser set called True romance. The title doesn't seem to match masculine cards but love that the sentiments give a tile look. This was such a quick and easy card to make and I think it matches the colour criteria.

AAA Cards Cas Challenge

Image
All is calm, all is bright My first card for this challenge and I hope it is cas enough. I still want to add just abit more but better than I used to be. The challenge is Silver and as I hadn't put all my Christmas stamps away this was what I came up with. The trees are from Stampin up Evergreen and the sentiment from other set of theirs called Wonderland. I Stamped the solid tree with tumbled glass distress ink, spritz with water and stamped three times. Used versamark for the overlay stamp then silver embossed them and fussy cut them out. Cut snow banks and also embossed the edges with silver embossing powder and added some tumbled glass for a bit of colour. The deer, from a MFT die is also silver embossed. Arranged the elements on a white card piece that I dry embossed with a snow pattern by sizzix, then onto a piece of blue glitter paper and a card base. I silver embossed the sentiment and around the edge of the card base to keep it all uniform.

Have you been good. This is such a cute image this month, well every month they are cute but this one is sooo cute. I kept it simple with a round window showing a snowy scene and with the temp here in the 30'sc I wish I could have really had snow outside. Cut a frame for the window and coloured the sky with faded jeans and chipped sapphire distress inks and added two snowbanks. Used a white gel pen for the snowflakes. Santa was coloured with copics and adhered with mounting tape for dimension. Copics Skin: E000,01,53,R12,20. Suit & Hat: R08,37,89,B0000,000,00. Gloves: E70,71. Boots: N1,5,7,9. Beard: C0,3. Merry Christmas From Down Under This is the a different snowman card as the weather here is hot, hot, hot. It just didn't seem right to make a card with snow when I was sitting in my room with the cooler on a steady 20c and outside it's 32c. We have had a run of hot days and with Christmas I just haven't had the time to post my card. I made a Sandman chilling on the beach and like the way it came together. The background is a Digi from Make it Crafty  that I reversed and added a computer generated sentiment to. The sky is coloured with tumbled glass and salty ocean distress inks and the rest with copics. I fussy cut the sandman after I coloured him with copics and layered him on the background with mounting tape. This was then adhered to a brown mat and then unto a kraft card. Added some glossy accents to the buttons and carrot. Copics:  Sandman: E55,51,53,55,57,W10. CarrotYR07. Flower: R08,37,89,YR16. Hat & Scarf: B00,12,14,N1. Sign: E23,25. White ...

Outlawz Freebie Monthly Challenge

Image
Micemas Post This month the freebie is this adorable image from Di's Digis . I have a few of these cute critters and they are a joy to colour. I used copics and then went around the edges with broken china and pumice stone distress inks. The sentiment is from Penny Blacks The Wonder set. The panel was then adhered to black cardstock and onto blue PP from the Echo Park 6 x 6 Season's Greetings pack that I added some white organza ribbon and silver cord to before adhering it to a black card base. Added some Wink of Stella for some shine and another Christmas card done. Copics:  Mice: E40,51,53,55,R20,W1. Santa Hat: R37,59,B000,01,C0. Post Box: R14,27,29,46,N1,3,5,7,E41,44,47,49. Juggling Tiger This months image is from Gerda Steiner and is this cute image called juggling tiger. Gerda has an amazing range of cute animals in both stamps and digis and they are so easy to colour. I used copics for all of the colouring except the sky. I masked the images with masking liquid and then blended with tumbled glass and stormy sky distress inks. I find I usually get a nice smooth blend if I just take my time. The stump is an old stamp from Whiff of Joy which had only one flower so I stamped 4 more then fussy cut them out and added for some dimension. I finished by adding glossy accents to the balls and the tigers nose after I mounted the coloured panel onto dark blue then a lighter blue card base. The sentiment is computer generated. Copics: Tiger: YR00,02,04,18,E43,49. Balls: BG23,R46,Y18.YR68,BY02. Stump: E41,43,44,47. Grass & Leaves: YG21,23,25. Flowers: Y04,08,E07.

The Swinging 60's This month the theme is all about the 60's and this girl fits perfectly. Love the flower patterned dress and those long white boots. I can relate so well to that time and I had a pair of boots just like these. The image is melody from Make it Crafty and after colouring her with copics, fussy cut her out and  adhered her to the base with mounting tape. Had fun with the base and love the way it turned out. First I used scrunched up cling wrap dipped in Jo Sonja pale gold acrylic paint and daubed over a white card 21/2 x 31/2 leaving lots of white space. Next just picked some bright distress inks and blended them over the card. Hard to see the gold shining through but it looks great. Decided it needed some stencils but used a translucent paste instead of white and love the subtle finish. The title was computer generated and the black makes it pop against the bright colours. Copics: Skin & eyes: E00,01,13,R20,B12. Hair: E40,41,42,44. Dress ...

Brrr... Cold Hedgehog The freebie image this month for the challenge is this adorable hedgehog and I enjoyed making him look cold. I kept the card fairly simple by masking the image to colour that large moon with squeezed lemonade, spiced marmalade and a touch of  faded jeans distress inks. Next I masked the moon and used faded jeans and chipped sapphire distress inks for the sky and flicked on some water droplets for contrast. For the image and grass I used copics and drew in some extra grass as it looked to plain. The Brrr... was cut out from and old cuttlebug alphabet set three times and glued together to give some added dimension. Edged the image with chipped sapphire before adhering it to some orange card then onto a blue card base. Copics: Hedgehog Hair: E13,17,19,29,37. Body: E70,71,77,W1. Scarf: BG0000,11,15. Pumpkins: YG97,YR18,21,Y38,E19. Apple: R12,17,46,Y13. Pear: G21,24,YR12. Grass: YG03,61W3,5.Black Multi Liner.

Just playing with distress inks

Image
Winter Trees Friday was such a wet miserable day so had lots of time to have a play with my distress inks.  Made a few panels and decided to stamp some winter trees to match the day and these two are my favourites. The colours on the first one are twisted citron, mustard seed and spiced marmalade and the tree is from Darkroom Door  appropriately called Winter Tree. The second card combo is peeled paint, tumbled glass, stormy sky and faded jeans and the stamp is Silhouette Oak Tree by Sheena Douglass . Nice and simple cards and helped pass a miserable wet day.

Parachute Piggy The Freebie this month is this cute image of a pig parachuting and since I am on a roll this week with Christmas cards it had be a card to add to the pile. I printed the image twice, one for the base panel and one to colour and fussy cut. The base panel was cut to 5 ins and I masked an area at the bottom for the snow bank and used distress inks for the sky. When I was happy with the colour I stamped the tops of the trees from the SU Wonderland set in versafine black ink, removed the mask and added Shaded Lilac to the snow bank. Added snowflakes with MIC Falling Snow background stamp using SU Whisper White ink. Coloured piggy and the parachute with copics, fussy cut them out and adhered them on the card panel. The banner is from SU Hello December and the sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Vintage Ornaments and I used mounting tape to adhere it for some dimension. The panel was then mounted onto a 51/4 in white card base. The distress inks used Tumbled Glass, Salty O...

Spring is in the Air This adorable fox is the freebie image for this month on the Gerda Steiner Blog . With spring just a couple of days away down here in Australia I made a card with blue skies, green grass but with bare trees. Still cold here in Canberra but some blossoms are starting to bloom. I used distress inks for all the colouring, a tree die from Cottage Cutz and one from Simon Says Stamps for the grassy slope. Distress inks:  Fox: Tea Die, Dried Marigold, Picket Fence. Sky: Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Stormy Sky. Grassy Slope Mowed Lawn.

Enjoy the Journey Steampunk This was a fun ATC for me as I had never really embraced the steampunk look but I think I might have been missing out. Checked out Pinterest and Google then went looking for stamps. Was really surprised how many I found that was suitable and I had really not played with. Is this a sign I have far to many and should not be buying more? Don't really think that will happen. I started with a old piece of  background paper and tore it to fit a 31/2 X 21/2 piece of cardstock. Glued it down then coloured with distress inks. Stamped images from Stampers Anonymous Tiny Things  and Ultimate Grunge   by Tim Holtz but it needed more so used an old stamp from Urban Stamps by Docraft called Chronology (cogs) and the small Eiffel tower by Justjohanna. The extra embellishments are from my stash and a Tim Holtz Game Spinner.  The sentiment was computer generated. Distress inks used: Hickory Smoke Brushed Corduroy Vintage Photo Old Pa...
