Happy Birthday

Warm Hands Only Where does the time go. Our eldest daughter turns 50 tomorrow and this is the card I finally made. Not what I planned but love it and she has a great sense of humour. Hopefully this will get my mogo back as it has been on walk-a-bout lately. The digi is from Redonkadoodles  and was coloured with copics and I kept it simple so the image takes centre stage. Her favourite colour is green so mounted the panel onto a green square card base and added the sentiment. Copics used:  Skin: E00,31. Mouth: & Lips: E13,31. Hair: E23,25,27,29. Present: G12,14,16. Ribbon: C0,1,3,5. Shadow: G0000,000,00.

Outlawz Colour Challenge with add a flourish Twist

Image
Tropical Flowers This  card is something different for me as I used some free dies from a magazine freebie and only stamped my sentiment. No colouring and everything is from my stash that I cut out but never used, including the embossed background. The flowers were cut in all different colours and I found enough to match the challenge colour. Still have so many left so more cards will be eventually be done. The embossed background looks like a flourish but also found one in my stash so I guess that covers the twist. I did sponge some green onto the leaves as they needed some definition and added glossy accents to the flower centres.

Day 5 Rethink Re-inkers

Image
Happy Birthday Card 2 Still using the backgrounds I made with the lesson 5 techniques. Same colour scheme and used dies again to decorate the card. It's been great to go through my stash and use up lots of cut offs and scraps. Knew they would come in handy one day. Layered the flower die cuts, added a couple of leaves and then stamped a birthday sentiment. Thought it needed a little something extra so found these enamel dots that match perfectly. Only a couple more to finish then onto lesson 6. Have enjoyed this so much.

Born To Be Wild Birthday Card

Image
Born to Be Wild A friend asked if I could make a card for a special friend for her 50th birthday and if it could have a motorbike theme and this is the result. The stamp is from Whimsy stamps and is part of their KennyK Collection but is no longer available. KennyK has their own on-line store but you need to be quick as they are closing at the end of this month. I coloured the image with copics, then layered it onto PP from a Kaiser 61/2 x 61/2 pad called Attitude. Before adhering it to a grey card base I wrapped twine around with an attached bike charm, then added some gears and cogs. The sentiment is a digi from Just Ink Lined . Copics: Skin: E50,51,53,R20. Lips: R22. Hair: E07,08,09,11,18. Eyes: BG000. Tank Top: C1,3. Hat,Top & Pants: B93,95,97,99. Belt: $44,C3. Boots: C1,5,7. Bike: R59,89,RV69,C0,1,3,5,7,9. Ground: W1,3,5. Shadow: W0,1.

Outlawz Progressive Freebie Challenge

Image
Happy Birthday Quick post as I am just about out of time for this challenge. Coloured this cute image from Di's Digis with zig clean colour markers and kept it clean and simple. The sentiment is from a Winnie and Walter set called The Big, the bold and the Happy.

Gerda Steiner Monthly Digi Challenge

Girl With Flowers It's been a month since I last posted as my poor old computer decided to throw a tantrum and I am going to have to buy a new one. My daughters partner managed to calm the beast but as it's 12 years old says it's time to upgrade. I actually enjoyed not having it after the first week as I read, crocheted and got over the withdrawal symptoms. Just in time now to add my challenge card. I broke out my Zig clean colour markers and had a play. Forgot to write down the one's I used but had fun and will try them again. Cut the image out with a My Favourite things rectangle die but mounted the frame for dimension over a scrap piece of PP. This was then adhered to a white card base. Added glossy accents to the flowers and headband then some black dots to her dress.

Happy Birthday Friend

Image
Poker Face I saw this stamp at our monthly ACTSA  (ACT Stamp Association) meeting and just had to buy it. One of our members has on-line store and she finds the most amazing stamps for all over the world. We are very limited in Australia compared to US and UK  so I tend to buy online from a few sites that actually get stamps from overseas. I find that the postage some US sites charge stop me from purchasing their products but there are still plenty that are reasonable. My favourites are digis but  I love to buy stamps as well. Some people would say I'm addicted (hubby would be one) but life's to short to worry and I love making cards. The stamp is from Crafter Companion and designed by Kathleen Francour called Poker Face. It is for a dear friends birthday this week. I coloured her with copics and kept it CAS, just stamping the sentiment from the set in the top right corner. Adhered it to a pale yellow card base as I really wanted the image to star. Copics: S...

The Outlawz Monthly Progressive Challenge

Happy Birthday Friend Two friends share the same birth date this month and I thought the image from Bugaboo would be a perfect birthday card for one of them. I may even do another with the same image. After printing it out I coloured the image with copics and hand drew a border around it before mounting it on an aqua blue card base. Added some tiny hearts, some bling for the flower centres and a happy birthday die sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs . A nice quick card. Copics:  Flowers: RV11,13,14,17,V01,12,15,17,R56. Leaves: Co2,03,05,09,12,20,21,23,25,YG17,41,63,67,Y02. Butterflies: B21,23,R14,YR02,18,E08. Background: B0000,00,BG11,15.

Happy Birthday Friend

Image
Happy Birthday A friend I have known for 48 years is having a birthday this month and I wanted to make her a special card. She has had a hard time the last three months so hoping this will cheer her up. Anything to do with Japanese culture is her thing and I found this gorgeous image from Little Blue Button called  Sweet Geisha Charlie  and here is the result. Used Copics to colour her and patterned paper scraps from my stash for the background. The red and orange small flowers were punched from old Carl punches and the large cream one with a Fancy That die. Attached the sentiment with some twine and my Geisha was done. Copics:  Skin: E50,51,53,R20. Eyes: G12,14,and White Gel Pen Hair: N3,5,7,9. Dress: BV11,13,17,YR16,20,21. Headband; BV11,13,17,R27,YR07,16. Flowers: E41,71,YR18. Fan: R27,YR21,16 Ground: N1,3. Shadow: BV0000.

Happy Birthday

Make a Wish Have a lovely friend that just loves House Mouse Stamps  by Stampendous so had to make a birthday card with this cute stamp. They are so much fun to colour and she loved it. The card base is light kraft that I adhered a piece of PP and some checked ribbon to. The coloured image was adhered to a piece of teal card stock and then I used dimensionless to add it to the card. The sentiment was computer generated and my medium to colour the image was copics. Copics: Mice: W0,1,3,5,7,R000. Hats: YG11,13,25,B23,24,R81,85. Icecream: E27,47,49,R000.02,12,YR00. Cone: E11,13,15. Candles: C0.3. Match: Y04,R14,E35,39. Ground: E70,71,74. Shadow: BG0000.

Happy Birthday Dragon Card

Image
The Birthday Dragon I have a friend that loves everything connected with dragons and the colour purple and this is the result. The image is a digi from Doodle Dragon Studios  but not sure if it is still available. I have had this set for ages and it is such a cute image but there are so many more coming all the time. If you like dragons and monster this site is worth a visit. On my last post I said I didn't colour at all but I made up for it this time.  I coloured the image in copics and love the result. He is such a happy dragon and a joy to colour. I kept the card simple as the image is the star of the show and I thought anything extra would be a distraction. I did use glossy accents on the balloon and candle flame and black enamel accents on the eyes but it didn't show up on the photo.. Copics used: Dragon: YG06,09,17,Y06,17,YR18. Hat: B12,14,24,26, Presents: BG000,01,53,72,G0000,000,00, YR000,02,Y00,02,RV000,02,B21,23,R000,02,05,37,43,59.V000,01,05,C1...

Outlawz Freebie Progressive Challenge

Image
Spring Birthday It's spring here in Canberra Australia and this image is just perfect for a spring birthday. All the blossom and spring bulbs are out and the weather has been lovely and warm the last week. The image is the freebie from Ignacio by Nicecrane for the Outlawz Freebie Progressive monthly challenge. I coloured her with copics then cut her out with a Nellie Snellen  die, layered it on pink Spellbinder oval  and then on the Kaiser PP from their Chanteuse Collection. The flowers and birds were fussy cut from the same PP. The sentiment is from a set called It's your Birthday by Simon Says Stamp. Copics: Skin: E000,00,02,R20,21. Hair: E41,43 and Sepia Copic Multiliner 0.3. Hat: RV21,23,25,E49,71. Dress: RV21,23,25,YG03,91,93,95. Legs & Shoes: YG03,91,93,95,RV21,23,25. Background: R0000. Ground: W0,1,3.

Outlawz Sunday Cas Challenge

Image
Happy Birthday The challenge this week was to use geometric shapes and I choose the safe old square as this is usually the format I use to make my cards. Nice and simple layout with the flower image cut into squares and then glued to dark grey, slightly larger squares to accent them. I used copic marker C7 to match in with the copics on the flower. Stamped happy birthday from Papertrey Ink  and it was done. Copics: Flower: N1,3,5,Y13,19,38. Leaves: YG23,45,G46. Background: C0,1,3,5. The image is one I never used and don't know who the artist is. If anyone does please let me know so I can acknowledge them.

Outlawz Thursday Twisted Challenge

Image
Happy Birthday My second blog post on the same day is just about a record for me. I feel real happy with myself if I manage one but hubby has decided we need a day at the coast so had to get the Thursday challenge done to have it in on time. The twist this week is layers and I love layers. Most of my cards were like this until I discovered Cas cards so enjoyed making this for a dear friends 89th birthday. Vi is such a special person and I can imagine her looking like this when she was young. Used a stamp called Flapper Melody from Crafts and Me and the flowers, another old stamp called Dotted Flowers, from Heroarts that is no longer on their website. Found this lovely old scrap of PP in my stash that I stitched onto a piece of pink CS then adhered the doily from MFT  (no longer available) on top and added some green lace. Cut the image out with a spellbinders die and then adhered it to another piece of pink CS and mounted it over the doily with dimensionals. Used dimensionals t...

Getting older

Image
Happy Birthday Princess The theme this week at the Outlawz colour challenge is kids/family and as it's my youngest daughters birthday this month it a was perfect choice. I am still having trouble picturing her as the big 40 when I still think of her as my baby princess. The years just seem to have flown and I am starting to feel old age creeping up. Hubby says you are only as old as you feel and I feel great but that glimpse in the mirror sometimes reminds me that we all have to age. I just want to do it gracefully. The image I choose is Mo Mannings   kisses and love the way it turned out. Copics was my go to medium to colour it with and I left the rest fairly plain and simple. The PP is an old left over piece and the sentiment is computer generated. I have lost my list of markers used but I know the dress was coloured with this combo. RV93,95,99. Not one I have used before but think it will get used more often. I am entering this in the Bizzy Becs August Challenge. ...

A burst of Sunshine

Image
Sunflowers Happy Birthday The colour challenge this Tuesday on Outlawz was to use a least three of the colours on the Seychelles flag. I decided to colour a digital image from Make it Crafty  called sunflower and used a sentiment from MFT  . The large doily is also from MFT and is the first die cut I ever purchased. It is still one of my favourites and I use it often. I wanted a small greeting that would fit on a tag as the sunflowers needed to have centre stage. They are beautiful and so easy to colour with copics. Added some twine to attach the tag then used dimensionals to attach the image to the blue cardstock then onto a white card base. Copics: Flowers: Y08,38,YR24,E17,19. Leaves/stems: G14,28,29,YG09,23. Background: G0000,000,00,B00,01,02.

Poppies, Poppies, Poppies.

Image
Watercolour Poppies Another poppy card and not my usual colour for a background but like the end result. The flowers seem to pop of the card against the purple so I think I should try different colours more often. The image, Penny Black , was stamped on watercolour paper and I mounted it onto orange card then onto a very pale grey card base. The watercolours are my old Jasart 24 set and a change from the distress inks I usually grab. The sentiment is a from Simon Says Stamp  and twine from my stash.

The Outlawz CAS Challenge

Image
Sunday Cas Challenge 19th July  Teddy Bears The Sunday Cas Challenge over on the Outlawz blog this week is  all about teddy bears. I love teddy bears and the hardest part of this challenge was choosing a bear to colour. I finally choose this Tattered Teddy called Me to You from Docrafts. Went mad when they first came out bought lots of them and still love to colour them up for cards. For a change I decided to watercolour with my old Jasart Watercolour pencils on Distress watercolour paper. Only have the 24 pack but find thats enough for me. Never been the best at water colouring but love the soft look it gives. The sentiment is from Save the date by Kaiser and the heart from an old Hero arts set called Baby. Added some Glossy Accents to teddy's nose, tag, hearts and part of the sentiment to make them pop.

Poppies

Doodle Pantry Digital Challenge 32 Have had this image for a while and thought the challenge over on Doodle Pantry was the perfect time to colour it up. The poppy has a special meaning for us in Australia on Remembrance Day. It is when on the eleventh hour on the eleven day of the eleven month, the nation stops for a minute's silence, to remember those who sacrificed their lives in war. On this day we wear a red poppy in remembrance. The red poppy has become a familar emblem of Remebrance Day due to the poem "In Flanders Fields". These poppies bloomed across some of the worst battlefields of Flanders in WW 1, their brilliant red colour an appropiate symbol for the blood spilled in war. In Flanders Field In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scare heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago  we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, ...

Colour Challenge AC158

Image
Playing with Distress Inks. The challenge at Annabelle Stamps  asks that we use the following colours. I didn't have the exact ones but thought these distress inks came fairly close. I stamped the flowers from the Designer flower stamp set in versamark, used white embossing powder and heat embossed them. The sentiment is from the Shape it up set and was also embossed. Used the distress inks over the top and this is the finished panel. A few shakes of water added to the distress look,  piece of ribbon for  embellishment, white and watermelon mats that was then mounted on a white card.
