Outlawz Colour Challenge

Image
You're Stuck With Me Love the colours for this challenge but wasn't to sure about the twist till I remembered a set from Darkroom Door called Cacti . Decided to use my Distress oxides for the background and the tall cactus in the background. For the foreground plants I used two green shades of versafine  and stamped of before I did the ones that I wanted in the background. I used some black distress to make the plants stand out as they were fading into the background. Stamped the sentiment from the same set and adhered it to a grey card base. Also added some white gel pen to the images. Inks Used: Distress Oxides : Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage,Forest Moss, Iced Spruce and Stormy Sky. Versafine : Onyx Black, Spanish Moss and Olympia Green.

Reflections

Reflection at Sunset. This is one of my all time favourite stamps from Impression Obsession called Trees and Lake and it is just great for ink blending, especially with distress oxides. I stamp the image in my Misti and leave it there so I can re-stamp it when I have done the colour blending. This way I can see where I want to put the colour and stamping the image later makes sure you have a sharp image. Used 5 colours of ink, black soot, ground espresso, vintage photo, spiced marmalade and fossilized amber and the  image was stamped with versafine onyx black. Used my heat gun to dry the ink after blending, re-stamped the image and adhered it to a black card base. I am entering this card in the Outlawz Tuesday colour challenge.

Tis the Season

Tuesday Colour Challenge Tic Tac Toe The Tuesday Outlawz challenge was to pick a line and make a card with the elements on that line.  I choose the left to right diagonal and I really had fun with it. Haven't paper pieced for ages and this stamp from Wplus9 is perfect for it. The stamp is no longer in their on-line store but it is an old favourite one of mine and so easy for this technique. I used watercolour pencils for the figure and scraps to paper piece the shopping bags in the colours I needed for the challenge. The holly is from the same set but I stamped the flowers on scrap PP with SU's Birthday Blossoms and cut them out. Added small red glass beads to the centres and three green pearls to the holly. The border punch is from Fiskars and the ribbon from my stash.

Sounds of the Sea

Image
At the Beach Sounds of the sea The colour challenge on the Outlawz Blog this friday is At the Beach and thought it was time to colour up this gorgeous image by Michael Powell called Coastal Getaway from Docrafts. Have had it for awhile and like the way it turned out. I used distress inks to colour it up and have left the card fairly plain as I think the image should be the focal point. The saying is a stamp from a Dark room door set called Seaside volume 2 and the background is from a SU set The open sea. I tore the image and background paper, then mounted the colourd image with dimensional tape to add a bit of interest.

Getting older

Image
Happy Birthday Princess The theme this week at the Outlawz colour challenge is kids/family and as it's my youngest daughters birthday this month it a was perfect choice. I am still having trouble picturing her as the big 40 when I still think of her as my baby princess. The years just seem to have flown and I am starting to feel old age creeping up. Hubby says you are only as old as you feel and I feel great but that glimpse in the mirror sometimes reminds me that we all have to age. I just want to do it gracefully. The image I choose is Mo Mannings   kisses and love the way it turned out. Copics was my go to medium to colour it with and I left the rest fairly plain and simple. The PP is an old left over piece and the sentiment is computer generated. I have lost my list of markers used but I know the dress was coloured with this combo. RV93,95,99. Not one I have used before but think it will get used more often. I am entering this in the Bizzy Becs August Challenge. ...

A burst of Sunshine

Image
Sunflowers Happy Birthday The colour challenge this Tuesday on Outlawz was to use a least three of the colours on the Seychelles flag. I decided to colour a digital image from Make it Crafty  called sunflower and used a sentiment from MFT  . The large doily is also from MFT and is the first die cut I ever purchased. It is still one of my favourites and I use it often. I wanted a small greeting that would fit on a tag as the sunflowers needed to have centre stage. They are beautiful and so easy to colour with copics. Added some twine to attach the tag then used dimensionals to attach the image to the blue cardstock then onto a white card base. Copics: Flowers: Y08,38,YR24,E17,19. Leaves/stems: G14,28,29,YG09,23. Background: G0000,000,00,B00,01,02.

Outlawz Colour challenge

Inky Fingers Inked Background The colour challenge at Outlawz this week is to use the following colours and the twist is inked background. I have to admit this is a favourite of mine and next to my copics distress ink comes in at no.2. Have had this card for a while and never used it. I had made a pile of backgrounds when  doing an on-line class and this is one that ended up as a card The colours I used for this background were  spiced marmalade, squeezed lemonade and mowed lawn distress inks. A few water splatters and it was done. The poppies  by Penny Black were stamped with abandoned coral and mowed lawn then I water painted them using the same distress inks. The sentiment is stamped in versafine olympia green ink from the SU Work of Art set. It was a perfect match for this challenge.

Outlawz Colour challenge 21st July

Anything but a card Ursula's colours I finaly found some time to put this together. I originally saw this on line and saved a picture of it to try at a later date. Not sure who thought of the idea but I am sure the papers mentioned were Su. Hope you don't mind that I cased your idea. There were no measurements but it wasn't hard to make it fit the little gift. You could make the size to fit all kinds of presents. The papers I used were Graphic 45's Secret Garden 6 X 6 pad and  freebies  by Jennifer Ellory  called Emma's Garden. Hauled out my old punches to make the flowers and added some leaves (Martha Stewart  punch). Spellbinders plain and Scalloped circles for the front cutout, sentiment is from everyday sayings by Hero arts. I punched to holes for the ribbon and it was done. This was easy to make and thinking of making some for Christmas stocking fillers and a small gift for my crafty group.
